The training of the Transcarpathian territorial defense battalion is in full swing. Last week, they trained to defend checkpoints with weapons. They rehearsed actions in case of separatists attack on the pass. They thought that the training would finish on that, however, it turned out that it would continue for at least a week or two, which the men are very unhappy about.

"First, – they admitted in an interview – we are not adequately provided – there is not even a normal shower! And, secondly, initially they claimed that we would stay at the shooting ranges for a maximum of seven days, and we’ve been here for a month now!"

They say that a significant percentage are not volunteers! Moreover, some of them do not have all the necessities, for example proper shoes.

Soldiers from Volyn are in especially difficult situation. Currently, there are 11 of them here. "Some of the soldiers after Volnovakha – Leonid from Polissya says – were sent here, the rest – to Mykolayiv. And although, after the East, the Silver Earth seems like a resort, we still want to go home.  And they do not even pay the salary."    

Currently, at the range, near the village of Orikhovytsya, there are nearly 400 people, over 50 of them have expressed willingness to fight on the Russian border, others refuse! They say, "if they force us, we will protest, in particular, we will write complaints to the prosecutor, start a hunger strike!" 

There are reports that on Wednesday, the battalion soldiers’ mothers will picket the RSA on Narodna Square, fearing that their children will be forced to go to Donetsk region.

As for the position of the Military Commissioner of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Commissariat Ivan Vasyltsyun, whose son has long been at the forefront, he always emphasizes that "the battalion was formed to protect strategic sites of the region. Currently, the unit is equipped with everything necessary. We provided them with everything we could. The rest was purchased by patrons. We are waiting for orders from the capital. So far – no changes."
