30% of Ukrainians will receive compensation for HCS – the Prime Minister

The Prime Minister Yatsenyuk said that almost 30% of Ukrainians would receive compensation for payments for housing and communal services from the state budget.

He told that on Tuesday, in the parliament answering questions from MPs.

Yatsenyuk said that the decisions on the first stage of increase in prices and tariffs for housing and communal services had already been adopted.

"I openly acknowledge that it will hit Ukrainians in the wallets. This is why the government has adopted the relevant resolution that conceptually changes the system of compensation," – the prime minister said.

"Now, we have in total about 1 million 200 thousand people covered by the system of benefits and subsidies. We realize that after raising prices and tariffs, people will lack money to pay them," – he added.

Yatsenyuk said that the government had expanded the compensation program under which 4.5 million families – almost 30% of Ukrainians – would be covered by additional compensation.

"For the budget, it is very significant costs. But we have no other option. Those, who do not have money to pay, the poor, will receive compensation from the state budget, and those who live in big houses, have money – sorry, you have to pay" – Yatsenyuk said.
