Rakhiv region said last farewell to a hero Vasyl Martyniuk, who died at night on August 14 in the battle near Luhansk.
August 20th, in Rakhiv, there was the funeral of the soldier of the 24th mechanized brigade (Yavoriv) Vasyl Martyniuk.
Since the early morning, in the hall of the district House of Culture, residents and officials of Rakhiv district and visitors of the city have been laying flowers and expressing condolences to the family.
At 14:00, hundreds of Rakhiv residents gathered on the central square of the city. There, a memorial service was held, the Acting Commander of the military unit, where the young man was serving, Major Igor Tsiganko and the Mayor Yaroslav Dumyn expressed their condolences.
– The soldier died a heroic death for the future of our children, our country and we must always remember his act – the mayor of the city addressed the crowd.
Igor Tsiganko urged to join efforts in the struggle for the country’s independence so that deaths of its defenders were not in vain and suggested to name one of the city streets in honor of the soldier.
The Transcarpathian hero, accompanied by a military band, was carried to the cemetery where he was buried with all military honors.
Vasyl Martyniuk was a true patriot. He dreamed of an independent, free, united Ukraine. He died for his country and for each of us – for our freedome and peace.
Rest in piece. Glory to the heroes! Condolences to the family, friends and loved ones…
