The nationwide motorcycle cross competition will be held in Velyky Berezny district

The First Stage of the Motorcycle Cross Championship of Ukraine and the MATSYED Cup will be held in Velyky Berezny district with the support of the regional government

On Wednesday, August 20, at the press center of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration, there was a press conference, which dealt with the motorcycle cross competition to be held in the region devoted to the Independence Day of Ukraine with the participation of the best athletes not only from Ukraine but also from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Belarus and Poland.

As the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Branch of the Motorcycling Sport Federation of Ukraine Victor Stehura told the mass media representatives, the First stage of the motorcycle cross championship of Ukraine among youth and the MATSYED Cup will take place in the Termachuv tract, near the village of Zabrid in Velyky Berezny district, from 23 to 24 of August. This is the 30th traditional inter-regional competition, which began back in 1984. 

When asked how many participants are expected, Victor Stehura answered that applications to take part in the competition on a rather difficult track had already been received from 110 athletes from all over Ukraine – Chernihiv, Lviv, Lutsk, Vinnytsia, as well from team of foreign countries: Slovakia, Czech Republic, Belarus and Poland.

Master of Sports of Ukraine, the Champion of Ukraine, a member of the national team of Ukraine, the winner of the Cup of Central European States Andriy Krychfalushiy said that the participants would start according to the draw. Thus, the winners of the regional and club teams will be awarded with diplomas and cups. Winners and runners-up in the individual competition will be awarded with medals and diplomas of appropriate levels and cash prizes.

Transcarpathia will be represented by more than 30 athletes of different age. In total, in the region, there are 10 motorcycle sport clubs, in which more than 80 athletes have received a high-level training.As noted by the champion, Transcarpathian athletes for the most part take first places in the competition.

Finally Victor Stehura said that Transcarpathia is the leader among regions of Ukraine in terms of hosting major motorsports competitions. "Motorcycle cross is an expensive sport, therefore such competitions require considerable spendings. But we have the support of the regional authorities, so we can hold competitions at the highest level", – the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Branch of the Motorcycling Sports Federation of Ukraine Viktor Stehura concluded.
