The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry introduces schedules of power supply restrictions in Ukraine in connection with the shortage of fuel and hydro resources.

Due to an emerging shortage of fuel and hydro resources, the risk of imbalance between production and consumption of electric power and shortage thereof has sprung up in Ukraine. In view of this, the NPC "Ukrenergo" agreed with the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine schedules of electricity consumption restrictions (SER) in full and schedules of electrical power consumption restriction (SPR) to the extent necessary to ensure maximum load in united power systems (UPS) of Ukraine.

Schedules were developed under the current "Instructions on the procedure and application of schedules…" and they include restrictions on the supply of electricity and power. In particular, in Transcarpathian region, the following schedules will be appled: power supply shall be limited daily from 12.00 to 17.00 and from 21.00 to 22.00 during the period from 11 to 31 of August this year. Thus, Transcarpathian region alone should restrict consumers within 4 MW of power and 170,000 KWh of energy. The relevant shedules were developed for each region of Ukraine. Currently, it will affect only energy-intensive industrial consemers, which are included in the schedule of restrictions.
