The attitude of Ukrainians to Russia, as well as that of Russians to Ukraine has significantly worsened over the past three months.
This is evidenced by the joint survey of the Kiev International Institute of Sociology and the Russian NGO "Levada-Center" held in Ukraine and Russia, the Ukrainska Pravda referring to "Interfax-Ukraine" reported.
According to the results of the survey, released on Tuesday, over the last three months, the number of Ukrainians with positive attitude to Russia has declined sharply (from 78% in February to 52% – in May).
The number of Ukrainian citizens with negative attitude to Russia has almost tripled (13% in February, 38% – in May).
The largest number of Ukrainians with positive attitude to Russia live in the east (it was 92%, now it’s 77%), the lowest – in the western regions (it was 70%, now it’s 30%).
In Russia, the number of positive-minded people to Ukraine has declined compared to February from 66% to 35%. The number of negative-minded Russians has increased from 26% to 49%.
According to the "Levada-Center", 69% of Russians are ready to support the government of the country in military conflict with Ukraine, 90% support the annexation of the Crimea to Russia, 86% believe that it became possible as a result of the free will of the Crimean.
The KIIS conducted the survey from April 29 to May 11, 2014 in all regions of Ukraine, except for the Crimea. A total of 2022 respondents were interviewed. The error does not exceed 3.3%.
The "Levada-Center" conducted the survey from 23 to 26 of May, 2014. A total of 1600 respondents in 130 settlements of 45 regions were interviewed. The error does not exceed 3.4%.
