The State Statistics Service claims that unemployment in Ukraine has decreased

Following the annexation of the Crimea, the unemployment rate in Ukraine in May fell to 1.7% of total workforce from 1.8% in April.

This is reported in the statement of the State Statistics Service.

In absolute terms, the number of registered unemployed persons in May totaled 456.1 thousand, of whom 363.1 thousand were receiving benefits.

The average amount of benefits has increased compared to the April figure by 11 UAH – to 1161 UAH.

The number of vacancies for the unemployed compared to April has increased slightly – up to 50,600 jobs from 50,100. The competition for one vacancy was 9 people.

It was reported that the unemployment rate in Ukraine in April compared with March was unchanged, and as of May 1, was 1.8% of the total workforce.
