Starting July 1, Ukrainians will be paying for water almost twice more

On July 1, tariffs in Ukraine will increase: for water supply – on average by 84%, for wastewater (sewage) – by 105%, for water consumption (water and sewage) – by 93%.

This was announced by the National commission of state regulation in the field of utilities – the Ekonomicna Pravda with reference to Channel 5 reported.

According to the National Commission, which sets them, from now on Ukrainians will be paying for water, according to economically reasonable level – that is, with a margin of 5%.
"The last time tariffs for water were raised was in 2008-2012. During this time, its cost has increased significantly – more funds are needed for salaries, purchase of electricity, reagents.

Water companies must make profit, because they need to think about maintaining their business," – a member of the National Commission Dmytro Grigoriev said.

In this regard, on July 1, water tariffs will be increased for 26 of the 150 companies that provide 87% of the water supply in the country. The rest of water supply companies, will likely raise tariffs on the first of August or in autumn.
Tariffs for water will rise unevenly, eg, in Ivano-Frankivsk, the water will rise by 41.7%, in Chernivtsi – by 14.6%.

The National Commission assure that the growth of water tariffs will not hit Ukrainians in their wallets too much.

Thus, the unprotected population – pensioners and families with children – will benefit from incentives and subsidies, and the average household of two people, according to estimates, will pay 36 UAH more – ie, not 40.00 UAH a month, but about 76.00 UAH.
