Customs officers corrected Prosecutors: there were more violations, but they dealt with them themselves and 250 people have already been punished

At the beginning of July 2011, Chop Customs held a briefing with the director of organizational and administrative department of the State Customs Service of Ukraine – Viktor Bondar and the chairman of the diligence commission – Hennadiy Romanenko, who published the results of a comprehensive inspection of the customs authority, according to which 255 employees had been brought to responsibility, 34 of them had already been dismissed.

Following the of audit of the performance of the Chop Customs for the period from 01.06.2008 to 07.06.2011, which was carried out by the Commission of the State Customs Service of Ukraine in June 2011, they found violations and abuses committed by customs officials. In particular, they revealed the officials whose misconduct led to violations of the law and to the damages to the State Budget of Ukraine in the amount of 19.2 mln. hryvnias. 

Thus, by lowering the customs value of goods they caused material damage to the state in the amount of more than 15.5 million hryvnias. Due to the incorrect classification of goods, they caused material damage in the amount of 900,000 UAH.

Also they found systemic violations in the organization of work and operational performance of the customs post "Vynogradiv" (formerly Vynohradiv Customs), checkpoints "Dyakovo", "Vylok", "Luzhanka", "Kosino", "Dzvinkove."

After the completion of due diligence, the relevant materials were sent to the Prosecutor General for responding.
