Zelensky discussed with Slovak president an agreement on resumption of the operation of the airport “Uzhgorod”

Ukraine is interested in signing a Ukrainian-Slovak agreement as soon as possible, which will allow to resume the full operation of the International Airport "Uzhgorod".

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in a telephone conversation with the President of Slovakia Zuzana Caputova, according to the website of the President of Ukraine.

"This airport is extremely important for Ukraine and Transcarpathian region. I expect Slovakia to approve the agreement soon. I am also convinced that after the end of quarantine measures, our governments should make joint efforts to restore the cooperation in trade, economic, transport and cross-border areas," – Zelensky said.

The parties also exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and Slovakia regarding the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures taken by the governments of the two countries to overcome the effects of the crisis and restore economic activity.

Zelensky thanked his Slovak counterpart for the humanitarian aid provided by Slovakia to Ukraine to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
