The second stage of selection of the participants for the Boxing Championship Ukraine among young men born in 2003-2004, which will be held in the city of Nadvirna in Ivano-Frankivsk region in late April, finished last week.
On March 15-18, the zonal championship of Ukraine in this age group took place in the city of Lviv. About one hundred young boxers represented Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian region.
Nine Transcarpathians won the right to participate in the finals of the Championship of Ukraine. According to the head coach of the region’ junior team Oleksandr Salakheyev, he hoped for better results, because a lot of work was done during the preparation for the competition, the boys improved their skills and physical condition, but something went wrong. The head coach of the Boxing Federation of Transcarpathia Valeriy Vyshnov believes that the team did well, because the boys won nine licenses for the finals of the Championship of Ukraine, and the main reason for some unexpected losses, in his opinion, was biased refereeing.
In Nadvirna, our region will be represented by Andriy Kupavtsev of Chop, Stanislav Babich of Khust, Vitaliy Brana of Rakhiv, Volodymyr Horzov of Irshava, and Anton Ivanov, Volodymyr Markovich, Milan Rokitsan, Vitaliy Tatarenko, Maksym Suvyrda of Mukachevo.
