Two white swans are staying in Uzhgorod. They have been swimming in the river Uzh for a few weeks now. Experts say that the birds have flown to Transcarpathia in search of food.
They eat mostly plants, but also gladly accept treats from the city residents and visitors who feed the swans with bread.
We asked whether such feeding could harm the birds. Transcarpathian ornithologist Ludwig Potish said: "It is dangerous in winter. In that season, birds can have problems with liver due to frequent feeding with bread. In the summer, when swans eat plants, a bit of bread will not harm them."
