Law enforcers are studying the details and finding out what caused the mother to inflict knife wounds to her child.The investigation over this incident continues. The woman was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.
Yesterday, February 10, at around 18:30, the doctor of the reception department of the children’s regional hospital reported to the police that a 2-year-old girl with no signs of life had been brought to the hospital. On the child’s body, there were clear signs of violent death.
A response team of the Mukachevo district patrol police arrived at the scene. Law enforcers interviewed witnesses and established the preliminary circumstances of the tragic incident. The investigation found out that in the village of Berezynka in Mukachevo district, a 28-year-old local resident, at home, while her husband was at work, had stabbed her daughter, who was born in 2016.
At that time, the woman’s father came into the room. The 50-year-old man pushed his daughter away from the granddaughter. In the course of the fight, the woman stabbed him several times.
The man took the child to the children’s hospital, but the girl died on the way. In addition, the father called an ambulance to his daughter’s place. The doctors then reported the incident to the police.
The investigative team, that arrived on call, found out that the 28-year-old woman, after inflicting knife injuries to her child and her father, had tried to kill herself. The doctors saved the suspect. She is in the intensive care unit.
The deputy head of the investigation department of the Mukachevo Police opened a criminal proceeding over the incident under paragraph 2 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, deliberate murder of a child. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of ten to fifteen years or life imprisonment. The woman has already been notifed of being suspected of committing a crime.
As of now, the suspect in the murder has been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. The fate of the suspect will be decided by the court. The investigation continues.
