Today, Ukraine celebrates Day of Liberation from Nazi invaders. Many events dedicated to this occasion take place in towns and villages of the region. But this day is also another reason to remember the people who lived through the difficult, tragic events of the 20th century. Witnesses of those days can still share their memories.
For example, wards of the Society of Transcarpathian Roma "Roma" that were given by the organization, with the support of the German Foundation EVZ, humanitarian aid: food, hygiene, and free medical care and free legal consultation. Those are older people from Roma communities of Uzhgorod, Svalyava and Perechyn born before 1945.
As referred to in the information posted on social networks, among the 90 elderly people, that patrons care for, there are people who survived Nazi persecution during the genocide of Roma people during World War II, and those who survived the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine…
