Over the past two years, 42 children separated from their families have applied to the migration service of the region for recognition as refugees. The vast majority of those children came from Afghanistan and Somalia, males aged 15 to 17 years. These issues were raised during the seminar "Children separated from their families. The right to protection and shelter", which was held March 26-27 in Uzhgorod in the framework of the Netherlands Embassy in Ukraine MATRA Programme, the Migration Service of Transcarpathia reported.
During the training, they discussed how to help this category of refugees, issues of protection of their rights and psychological support. They also discussed the problematic aspects of the practical application of the recently approved "Procedure of the examination to establish the age of a child who was left without parental care and is in need of additional protection."
