Within a week of the month of voluntary surrender of weapons, 48 weapons and 76 pieces of ammunition have been handed over to Transcarpathian police.
Since the beginning of the month, citizens have handed over to the permit system of Transcarpathian police 48 weapons, including 3 hunting rifles, 44 hunting smoothbore rifles, 13 gas guns, a hunting knife, a mortar shell, a mine, a grenade fuse and 76 pieces of ammunition of various calibres .
Thanks to the month of voluntary surrender of weapons, in April, 8 persons escaped prosecution. Mostly, Transcarpathians bring to the police the weapons that they have inherited from family members and registered weapons that they want to destroy.
On April 1, the month of voluntary surrender of weapons, ammunition, explosive materials and special tools started in Transcarpathia, as well as throughout the country. All those citizens, who will voluntarily bring unregistered weapons to the National Police, will not only escape responsibility, but after the execution of the relevant documents, will be able to register it and use legally.
Recall that illegal possession of weapons under Part 1 of Art.263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (possession, storage, acquisition, construction, repair, transfer or sale of firearms, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices without statutory permit) is punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
Citizens can hand over illegal weapons to the permit system units of local city and district police departments.
