And even fewer consider Hungary as a place for a scenic winter recreation. The territory of the country has a mostly flat landscape. However, there are still mountains in Hungary. Their location ensures mild winters and warm summers. In spite of the mild climate, Hungary has places for skiing, sledding, bobsledding and just a strolling through the picturesque winter forest.
Magas-hegy
The Magas Mountain is located in the northern part of the country near the city of Sátoraljaújhely on the border with Slovakia. The height of this mountain peak is 386 meters. Lillafüred
Lillefüred is a small picturesque district, located 14 km from the center of Miskolc. It is located among the Bükk mountains on the shore of a beautiful lake. Lillefüred is famous for numerous hiking trails, hanging gardens near the Lillefüred Hotel and the waterfall, which freezes during winter, turning into a huge ice block. In addition, there is a ski resort with a ski lift near Lillefüred.
The best way to get to Lillefüred is by a retro train from Miskolc. It departs from the majestic Diósgyőri castle.
