Winemakers asked the president not to kill Ukrainian wine

Winemakers asked the president to keep in the state budget for the next year a special fund that accumulates finances on horticulture and viticulture. This is stated in the letter signed by the major domestic producers: Association of winegrowers and winemakers of Ukraine, "Ukrwineprom" Corporation, Association "Ukrainian Bureau of Vine and Wine" and concern "Ukrsadvynprom."

Currently, the law "On State Budget for 2013" provides that these funds will be sent to the general fund of the budget revenues.

Experts believe that in such circumstances the industry could lose 1 billion hryvnias next year, and delay payments on debt of 2012 in the amount of 898.6 million hryvnias.   At the same time, the industry can not develop without government support.

Planting campaign 2012 completely failed due to non-payment of monetary compensation. This means that after 4 years, when the vineyard has to give the first crop, the industry will not get the grapes. Article 10, left unchanged, will lead to the situation that in all subsequent years the industry will remain without new planting, and therefore – without the required yield. Instead, the Ukrainian market is already flooded by imported products. Their share, compared with 2011, has increased by 21%.
