During the first days of February, 92 businesses were registered at the city tax office. This was reported to the Uzhgorod.in by the head of Uzhgorod Tax Inspectorate Maria Badyda.
According to her, she had never seen such a rush with closing of business activities as in late 2016 – early 2017.
"I must admit that it looked like some sort of panic. About 80% of them were people who were not actually carrying out business activity, so the additional 700 UAH to be paid to the state forced them to officially close their activities. – Maria Badyda explains. – However, there were those, who had been in business for lifetime. We tried to talk to them. to calm them down, to persuade… Now, hopefully the trend will change: it was those, who did not intend to work in private business, that closed their operations."
Also, Maria Badyda admits that closing of business activities could have been less massive if changes in tax legislation had not coincided with the beginning of the year: "Expenses for the New Year, traditional stagnation in business in January and February, and then additional expenses… Of course, it influenced people’s decisions. But, again, I hope that this was just a trend for the beginning of the year. We will see how it will develop," – the experienced tax officer says.
Recall that many entrepreneurs rushed to close their operations. In just two weeks in 2017, 368 businesses closed.
