According to sources, the holiday of the new Beaujolais is celebrated all over the world on the third Thursday of November. And in the birthplace of the famous beverage, in the town of Beaujeu in France, the first bottle is opened exactly at midnight – after the twelfth strike of the church of St. Nicholas.
The tradition of the celebration "Beaujolais Nouveau" originated in the XIX century on commercial reasons. Beaujolais is not suitable for long storage, but it ripens faster and has a rich flavor and aromatic bouquet. Taking into account these circumstances, Beaujolais winemakers decided to annually celebrate the feast of a new wine crop.
