The Horse Day took place in Transcarpathia for the second time. It is a beauty and agility contest among horses and their riders.
The holiday in honor of the noble animals – long-time friends and assistants of humans – takes place within the Kuruc-fest. This event with a pronounced Hungarian accent is held in Petrovo in Vynogradiv district. This time, 7 stables, which included 11 horses and 5 carriages, took part in the contest. Horses for tourism, for sports, for entertainment and even for treatment – the list of the "professions" is quite long.
The Horse Day opened with a parade of all the participants, and after that all the horses and horsemen show what they can do. Then, demonstrative performances took place: horses and riders demonstrated jumps and other tricks, vaulting, even how they can follow soldier’s commands.
The Equestrian Center "Selid" from Vynogradiv showed guests a performance with children horsemen who performed gymnastics on horseback, because the club is also engaged in hippotherapy, helping sick children. And the club "Adrenaline" from Svalyava district showed a cart with two "Hungarian halfbreeds": their horses work in tourism – from simple rides to long hikes in the mountains for guests.
According to the organizer of the holiday, their goal is to develop horse breeding in the region, so that people do not forget about their noble friends and do not abandon this business. "In Transcarpathia, people traditionally traveled on horseback. To raise interest to this, to show the beauty, the intelligence and the ways of using horses in life. Because it’s so beautiful," – Mrs Khrystyna Kudlotyak, the director of the Public Organization "ProCulture SubCarpathica" said.
The culmination of the holiday was the performance of archers and Hungarian hussars who staged a battle on horseback. According to Zsolt, who arrived from Hungary and represents the club of historical reenactment of traditional riding, they were unable to demonstrate everything that they can do, because he was riding that particular horse for the first time. However, the viewers received great impressions, and riders and horses – loud applause.
And the horses themselves were the main focus on the holiday. Exquisite Ukrainian riding horses, small but strong Hutsul horses, beautiful silver Dasha of mixed breed (which had her first public performance and therefore was very nervous),
the chidren’s favourite white Welsh pony Mokan
and other beautiful and powerful horses – among which they chose the most beautiful. The representative of the Beregovo club "Mustang" Arbika won – a beautiful chestnut Ukrainian riding horse.
And all guests of the holiday received great pleasure from contemplation of noble animals, their beauty and skills.
