Uzhgorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv is participating in the XV Ukrainian Municipal Forum, which is taking place in Odesa. The Transcarpathian region is represented at the forum by eleven participants of the Association of Ukrainian Cities.
The traditional annual event is a platform for discussions between the public authorities and the Association of Ukrainian Cities about the development of local self-government, improvement of the legislative framework, further decentralization of power, strengthening of open governance, support of economic development of the communities, and implementation of sectoral reforms, housing and communal services reform, etc.
The guests of the first day of the forum were the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, the Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities Andreas Kiefer, Special Representative of the German Government for Reforms in Ukraine Georg Milbradt, MP, Speaker of the AUC in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oksana Prodan and others.
The chairman of the AUC, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that today the Association of Ukrainian Cities is the most influential NGO in the country, which protects the interests of local self-government. The AUC includes 779 city, town and village councils. Among them, there are 341 united territorial communities. In preparation for the Dialogue Day, the Association of Ukrainian Cities compiled the list of community issues. This year, members of the AUC sent 164 issues.
Almost half a thousand participants are taking part in the forum: city mayors and heads of local self-government bodies, representatives of central bodies of state power, MPs, international experts, foreign partners of the Association of Ukrainian Cities.
