According to the Transcarpathian Center for Hydrometeorology, on December 10-11, due to snowstorms and a significant increase of snow cover, there is a significant (level III) avalanche hazard in the highlands of Transcarpathian region and the risk of snow slides on the roads, – the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region warns.
In view of this, the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region advices citizens to refrain from trips to the mountains, as in case of avalanches such trips can end tragically.
If after all you decided to go conquering the slopes of the Carpathians, strictly follow basic safety rules. First of all, get registered at the nearest rescue service unit, prepare for the trip taking warm clothes and climbing equipment, alsways be accompanied by experienced tourists and stop the trip in adverse weather conditions. Remember: neglecting these tips can lead to fatal consequences.
