Which articles of the Customs Code do Ukrainian violate most often when crossing the border? (Infographic)

The topic of Ukrainian borders remains relevant, especially after the successful launch of visa-free regime. However, one should remember certain rules to avoid problems. Thus, this year alone, Transcarpathian police received 180 calls to the checkpoints in the region. Those were due to triggered Interpol database or such violations as illegal attempts to cross the border, seizure of prohibited items, etc. In addition, border guards and customs officers may impose fines. Or they can draw up a report on violation, and then substantial fines may be imposed by court.

Thus, the press service of the Main Office of the SFS in Transcarpathian region and the Chop border guard detachment provided to Uzhgorod Press Club the list of articles of the Customs Code of Ukraine and the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, which were violated most often over the past year on the western border of Ukraine.

In particular, according to the statistics of the Transcarpathian customs office, during 2016, citizens and economic operators most frequently violated articles 470, 483, 472, 471, 481 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. In total, in 2016, Transcarpathian customs office opened 2485 cases of violation of customs regulations at UAH 43 million 437 thousand. 

Art. 470 of the MCU: failure to deliver goods, commercial vehicles and documents to the destination customs office, issuance thereof without the permission of the customs authority or loss thereof.

Art. 483 of the MCU: transportation or actions aimed at transportation of goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control

Art. 472 of the MCU: failure to declare goods, vehicles for commercial use

Art. 471 of the MCU: breach of customs control procedure in the areas of the simplified customs control

Art. 481 of the MCU: exceeding the duration of temporary import or temporary export of goods

Art. 202 of the CAO: Violation of the checkpoint or border regime

Art. 204-1 of the CAO: Violation or attempted violation of the state border

Art. 185-10 of the CAO: Persistent disobedience or failure to follow legal requests of border guards

 Take care and travel safely. It is recommended to find out rules of border crossing in advance, before arriving at the checkpoint.
