To see unique Manchu spotted deers, whose antlers are used for the making of the drug Pantocrinum, you have to go to Iza in Khust district of Transcarpathia.
Rare deers appeared at the farm in Soviet times – in 1987. Helicopters delivered them here from Kaliningrad region. The main purpose of the breeding of these animals is Pantocrinum – the drug extracted from the antlers. At that time, it was extremely profitable businness. But in independent Ukraine, the price of raw materials fell significantly – and the deer farm was turned into tourist attraction.
Many tourists come to look at more than 150 spotted animals. The female bears baby seven months, and in three days after the birth baby deer runs into the woods. It comes to mother only to eat, and always at one and the same place. A few months later it starts eating food, and in four years becomes adult.
The deer farm is located 50 kilometers from the village of Kolochava. Vacationing in Kolochava, you can visit it, following the tourist route "Unique fauna of Transcarpathia", uzhgorod.net informs.
