Pursuant to the Order "On approval of the Provision on medical examination of candidates for drivers and drivers", medical examinations of such individuals are divided into preliminary, periodic, shiftly, pre-trip, post-trip, and extraordinary examinations. This was reported to karpatnews.in.ua by the head of the prevention department of the Uzhgorod city clinic Larysa Poshehorova.
Preliminary medical examinations are to be undergone by candidates for drivers to be qualified for driving, and periodic examinations – by drivers for confirmation of the right to drive (under 55 years – once in a decade, 56 to 75 – every 3 years, over 76 – once a year). Drivers who transport passengers and cargo must undergo medical examination each year.
In addition, according to the doctor, the procedure for physical examinations remained unchanged. For the preliminary examination, laboratory tests of a driver are required. In some cases, more tests may be prescribed to determine the diagnosis. During a medical examination, they take into account the results of the mandatory substance abuse prevention inspection of a person and psychiatric records.
Extraordinary medical examination of a driver is carried out under the order of the carrier on the basis of information on poor health, as well as at the detection of signs of disease or disability, Larysa Poshehorova explained.
