What people who have lost their jobs during quarantine can do: help from the Employment Center

Inna Bondini, the head of the State Employment Services Division of the State Employment Center, told Ukrainian Radio what kind of assistance the Center offers and what one should do to get it.
According to Bondini, the Employment Center estimates the unemployment rate today at 15.5%, the highest rate in 15 years. Due to the loss of job during the quarantine, people of various professions are appealing to the Employment Center. Of those, 48% are persons with higher education, 34% have vocational education, 18% have general secondary education. Most of them are women.
Employment services can offer several options for these people. In particular, it was decided to simplify the procedure for registration and obtaining the status of unemployed and unemployment benefit. In order to apply for it, one has to go to the web site of the State Employment Service, the section for online submission of documents, read the detailed instruction, write an application, take a picture of it and send it at the email address of the Employment Center. After reviewing the application, representatives of the Center contact the applicant by phone, Bondini says.
According to her, the minimum amount of unemployment allowance provided by the Center during the quarantine has been raised from UAH 650 to one thousand. Payments of this sum will continue throughout the quarantine period and for 30 days after it.
