A meeting on ‘The National Education and the requirements of modern labor market’ was held in Uzhgorod Press Club. The compliance with preferences of current Transcarpathian entrants’ realities of their future employment after their graduation was discussed at the meeting. The details of this year’s entrance campaign at UzhNU was also discussed.
‘We train specialists from 22 fields of knowledge (from 47 which exist in Ukraine) in UzhNU, – said Andriy Horvat, an executive secretary of the selection committee of Uzhgorod National University, Professor. – This is a very good indicator. As a part of this knowledge UzhNU prepares students from 32 directions and 47 specialties. Our students have wide enough choice of specialties which reflect the common needs and take into account all the peculiarities of labor market’.
According to the professor, students also have an opportunity to acquire an additional qualification such as computer science teacher, psychologists and others. There works the Department of Postgraduate Education. The University provides an opportunity to gain a variety of education and therefore it is easier to settle in life. A considerable part of graduates of UzhNU goes in science. Higher educational institution has 120 doctors of sciences and 600 candidates.
Yurii Bidzilya, a Dean of Philological Faculty, a Head of Journalism Department, Professor, noticed that in accordance with the Bologna Convention, which Ukraine signed, Ukrainian students have access to the European labor market.
UzhNU also joined to the Bologna system. ‘Some students-journalists found themselves in Poland, entered to the magistracy and left there to study and work. Some went to Russia, which is also joined to the European system, – said Yuriy Bidzilya. – This year, students of journalism department will pass their practice in the Czech Republic. Such a system gives wider possibilities for graduates, although we are losing staff’.
According to Mykola Palinchaka, a Dean of International Relations Faculty of UzhNU, associate professor, university leadership currently examines issues on reduction of payment for the second higher education. That is, when studying at full time and part-time department at once, the student will pay 50% less for the distance studying. ‘The overwhelming majority of good students continue to study and work abroad – said Mykola Palinchak. – This year one of our students submits documents to a university in Germany, they take her without taking any exams. Debrecen teachers will read logistics course for 2 months in October. We are waiting for the Czech language lecturer who will teach our students for free.
Volodymyr Lazur, a Dean of Physics Faculty of UzhNU, Professor told about the successful teaching and employing graduates of the Physics Faculty of UzhNU. This year three students were enrolled in postgraduate study to Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic).
Physical faculty graduates work in the universities of Princeton (USA), Innsbruck (Austria), Wuppertal (Germany), laboratory in the sphere of the world military technologies is headed by scientist of UzhNU. Students of Physics Department, according to Dean, quickly find a job, 4-5 grades students work at the leading enterprises with foreign investment.
