Wash your hands more often instead of using alcohol antiseptics: chemist’s advice on quarantine

Instead of alcohol antiseptics, it is better to use regular soap for hand cleaning, it is also important to take care of the hand skin health as it reduces the risk of infection.
Chemist Yulia Gagarina told that in the TV program "Quarantined".
According to her, antiseptic should be used when a person has touched contaminated surfaces, and under normal conditions it is better to use regular soap.
"Soap is the best disinfectant. Not alcohol, not chemicals with complex names. They are good in hospital setting when used properly. For an average person, soap is the best disinfectant," – Gagarina said.
According to her, in hospitals, medics use alcohol disinfectants because frequent use of soap damages skin. An they do not treat bare skin, but disinfect rubber gloves.
Gagarina also noted that one should not be too afraid of touching various surfaces, since only some of the virus present on the surface can remain on the hands after touching. At the same time, she noted that healthy undamaged skin is least susceptible to the virus.
