The head coach of Uzhgorod "Goverla" Vyacheslav Grozny once again criticized the decision to reduce the number of participants in the championship of Ukraine to 12.
– I think there should be 16 teams, but not in two rounds. We cannot play as equals with "Dynamo", "Shakhtar", "Dnipro" during the season. We have different financial capabilities, everything different. Today, it is not the same "Goverla" as it was before. I have not enough players. For two decades, there has been no work with reserve in Transcarpathia. All talented players went to Slovakia and Hungary or Ukraine’s leading schools.
I suggested the format: 16 teams of the Premier League divided into two groups of eight teams each. The first group is the elite group and the second is the development group. We would give young guys the opportunity to play in a relaxed atmosphere. Will the football quality improve if we have less teams? Of course, not! They have tried the format with 12 teams in Kazakhstan and in Belarus, Belarusians rejected it. This format is useless, but somebody wants it. Everyone is afraid to say that, and I’m not afraid. Why I should be afraid to speak in my own country? They do not want to see "Goverla" in the top league.
