"Just as Uzhgorod residents recovered from the blatant destruction of green space on Svoboda Avenue between houses number 29 and number 31, the same raiding activities continued across the avenue. Namely, in the morning on June 9th, between houses number 22 and number 20, a group of unknown persons who introduced themselves as local Zelengosp workers began to cut 4 healthy trees. Thus, two maples, 1 chestnut, 1 birch and other greenery were cut down to the roots. The indignation of the residents of those houses about such arbitrary actions is infinite!" – a lawyer, social activist and former member of the executive committee Oleksandr Volosyansky wrote in facebook
"And as always, those involved in such "orders" are close to authorities. According to the residents, it has to do with the former chief of staff of Uzhgorod district state administration Y. Andrus.
Today, July 23, residents sent a collective appeal to the Mayor, City Prosecutor, City Council member V. Hnatkiv and to me as a public figure.
I hereby publish the materials given to me in order to notify relevant competent authorities through mass media about significant violations of the law. I hope that they will take real and effective response measures" – Volosyansky wrote.
Reminder: the attempt to build a so-called hardscaping element on the avenue, between houses 29 and 31 ended in people taking sledgehammers.
Then, in the place of felled trees, the residents planted forest trees.
