The world-renowned neurosurgeon, Director of the Neurosurgery and Neurology Center, member of the Regional Council, Volodymyr Smolanka. started quite creative and unconventional campaign as a parliamentary candidate at the electoral district number 68.
Today, August 14, at Independence embankment in Uzhgorod near the Language school, the candidate graduated from 35 years ago, Volodymyr Smolanka presented his electoral program, and told why the decided to run to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
"As a man who fulfilled himself as a physician and scientist I’ve made the decision to go further. You know why? When I’m on business trips around the world, I watch the life and development of civil societies in different countries. Each time I compare them with the situation in our country. Once back home, I have two contradictory feelings: the joy due to returning to my native land and disappointment, discourage due to what I see and understand how far we lag behind the developed countries of the world," – says Volodymyr Smolanka. "This relates to all the sectors: country management, transportation, economy, culture, education and medicine. And the most important is that we are making progress too slowly, dropping behind even furthermore."
To support the neurosurgeon known far behind the Ukrainian borders many intellectuals of the region came to the meeting.
The Director of the T. Shevchenko Language School and deputy of Uzhgorod City Council Mykhajlo Megesh that their former student brought honour not only to his family, teaching staff of the school but also to Uzhgorod, Transcarpathian region and Ukraine.
At the end of the meeting Volodymyr Smolanka noted that the work in the Parliament requires working in the electoral districts for almost 200 days per year. "If I succeed, I plan to devote this time to scientific and practical activities in order to help people."
