Volodymyr Chubirko about catering in schools: “When we are talking about children, the decision should be taken on the ground”

The former Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, social activist Volodymyr Chubirko commented the situation with funding of catering in schools.

"While Uzhgorod city council is studying the issue of catering for primary school children, in many Ukrainian cities, decisions have long been taken and the youngest pupils are provided with at least breakfasts. And no decision of the Verkhovna Rada prevented them. For when it comes to children, decisions must be taken here on the ground. The funds are available. And it’s certainly not the MPs who are going to feed our children.

So instead of thinking and studying, they must take decisions now, because in the current difficult economic conditions, when it comes to basic survival, the government should support townspeople, and not to take the last vestige of social security from them" – Volodymyr Chubirko said.
