Victor Baloha: “In fact, they have the money!”

"Today we will send such letters to each of the 459 mayors in Ukraine. Maybe they can clarify the actual situation with the financing of local government costs", – the politician Victor Baloha informs on his profile in Facebook, asking Ukrainian mayors to give him the information about the amount of money they receive from the state budget.

The politician said: "The problem is actually much more serious than it might seem to someone.Local government have the money, but it is locked on the single treasury account. Mayors, in order to pay people salaries, have to ask for money almost at the level of the Cabinet of Ministers. The development, construction of schools and repair of kindergartens are out of the question.

I have repeatedly addressed this issue to the government (including when I still was working as the minister) – they either lied or gave excuses. Mayors do what they can. Mayors in the East for some reason are silent. It means, either the Party of Regions make payments only to their own, or it is a "party discipline."

Therefore, if the government is silent, we will do it in other way and get the real picture of how much money was taken away from the local communities. I am sure, the picture will be impressive."

Victor Baloha will have the full picture of the "local financial affairs" within the next ten days.
