UzhNU swimming pool makes loss of 60 thousand hryvnia every month

Half a year has already passed after the swimming pool reconstruction start in sport complex ‘Burevisnyk’ that belongs to Uzhgorod National University.

State has spent nearly four million hryvnia on its reconstruction. The building was solemnly opened but there are no costs for its maintenance. The hour of swimming in the university swimming pool costs 35 hryvnia, although only for the city residents and students who have no longer physical education due to the curriculum.

According to the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Dean Valeria Tovt, monthly the maintenance facility needs more than eighty thousand hryvnia. The Ministry does not allocate a single penny, and the swimming pool earns on itself only twenty thousand.

Currently UzhNU signed two agreements on granting services for swimming – with ‘Eurocar’ and Water Polo Federation. However, this is not enough to pay for the work of the pool.

‘Our first task is to make the building less unprofitable. We will also try to give some privileges for students who do not have physical training in their curriculum. By the way, the pool works now, but only for those who paid for it – says Vice-rector of administrative work Dmytro Soyma.

By the way, nobody requires health reports. And this is a serious violation. It is a pity that the pool with unique water purification systemon which spent a million hryvnias, the only in Uzhgorod, which has two towers for jumping, empty.

Perhaps university administration should revise the pricing policies, to fight for more funds or search patrons who will agree to keep this object.
