UzhNU merged law faculties and replaced the Vice-Rector

From now on, there is only one unit in UzhNU, where lawyers are trained – the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of European Law and Jurisprudence were merged into one unit.  

This was reported by the Media Center of UzhNU.

At yesterday’s meeting of the Academic Council of Uzhgorod National University, among other issues, they considered the issue of reorganization. Rector Volodymyr Smolanka announced that the day before there had been a meeting of the working committee to improve the structure of Uzhgorod National University, during which it was agreed to merge two departments – the Faculty of European Law and Jurisprudence and the Faculty of Law under the name of the latter.

Yaroslav Lazur was appointed the acting dean of the new faculty. Before that, he was hold the position of the Vice-Rector for scientific and pedagogical work. Now these duties at the Rectorate will be temporarily performed by Nat.Sc.D., Professor Volodymyr Feketa.

According to the last year’s budget, both those faculties, on account of tuition fees from contract students, brought the unversity 10 million hryvnia each. If the same figures remain in 2015, the merged faculty will be the most profitable for UzhNU, overtaking the Medical Faculty (16 million) and the Faculty of Postgraduate Education (7 million).
