Uzhgorod will host a festival of cultures

During two days, September 15 and 16, the international youth festival "Beauty around me" will be held in Uzhgorod under the slogan "Unique in diversity". Youth from different countries – the USA, India, Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Jordan, as well as Hungary, Slovakia and from different parts of Ukraine will show Transcarpathians the culture of their people. In total, at least 250 participants will take part in the festival. The program provides for various games in international teams, fair of cultures, familiarization with traditions, etc.

This was announced during a briefing at the Press Center of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration by the head of the Youth and Sport Department Vitaliy Erfan, the head of the youth policy department Irina Savchenko, US Peace Corps volunteer Jerusalem Khailo and the executive director of the NGO Ekosfera Katerina Stankevich.

The first day of the festival – Friday – will be dedicated to introducing the participants. In the territory of the Uzhgorod castle, in particular, there will be a game-quest with intellectual tasks for five international teams. In the evening, the official opening of the festival with the participation of representatives of diplomatic institutions from different countries will take place.

The main events will take place on Saturday on Teatralna Square. Representatives from each country will have their locations where they will be presenting their culture. Guests will be able to chat with representatives of different cultures, take part in games and master classes, get acquainted with national clothes, taste traditional dishes and drinks, see household items. For example, they will be able to take part in yoga lessons, try on sari, join the knight fights, take part in a master class on pottery. Representatives of each country will also take part in the concert program, presenting their songs and dances.

According to the organizers, the festival aims at destroying stereotypes and creating a sense of tolerance through the exchange of unique and vivid traditions of peoples.
