At Uzhgorod City Council session, scheduled for February 19, the draft decision "On street renaming" (number 1618 with an annex) is submitted among others.
Deputies will be voting for renaming of several streets in the city, "which were named after leaders and activists of the Communist regime and Soviet government." In addition, in the annex, it is proposed to turn part of Nezalezhnist embankment (up to the house №4) into Roshkovich embankment.
Thus, the draft decision proposes to rename:
– Ankudinov street to Georgiy Gongadze street;
– S. Lazo street to Nahum Repkin street;
– Kotovsky street to Yosyp Shtelikha street;
– Paris Commune street to Heroes of Chernobyl street;
– Blagoev street to Vyhorlatska street.
The supervision over the implementation of the decision will be assigned to the standing commission on housing and communal services, urban planning, architecture and ecology, which is headed by Andriy Pogorelov.
