Uzhgorod skansen invites to the Day and Night of Museums

On May 18, traditionally, all museums of the world celebrate the International Day of Museums and offer interesting cultural and artistic programs to their visitors. The Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life prepared an all-day program for visitors, so, on May 18, the events on the territory of the museum will be taking place from 9.30 until 23.30. 

MUSEUM DAY

The holiday program:

– 9.30 – Bishop Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the reopening of the Shelest church.

From 11.00:

– the solemn opening of the IX regional children’s folk festival "Veselkovy perezvin";

– pottery classes in the pottery workshop of the museum (masters Andriy Zubenko and Maria Polyanko);

– master classes on making of doll toys (Lyudmila Hubal) and ragdolls (Olena Sihetiy), ceramic plates (Oksana Metzger), embroidery (Maria Kupar);

– master classes on blacksmith’s crafts from the Free Transcarpathian Smithy – making of a medieval sword (Stepan Rusnak and Roman Murnyk);

– an open class on making of authentic medieval leather items and footwear in the old museum school;

– tasting of eco-products from the valley of the Turya river in the old museum inn.

For guests:

– meeting with folk artists and the fair and sale of arts and crafts.

– overview and thematic tours of the museum.

For children:

– in the estate from the village of Tybava in Svalyava district – traditional children’s games and entertainment.

In the exhibition halls:

– exhibition of works by Artur Tyvodar "Mnemosina".

– V exhibition-contest "The World of Easter Egg 2019".

– the collection of wooden carved works by Fedir Babynets.

NIGHT IN UZHGOROD SKANSEN

The program of the event includes:

– 19.00 – folk songs performed by folk-ethnographic ensemble "Lemkivchanka" from the village of Zarichevo in Perechyn district (artistic director – Maria Nyzovets);

– 19.30 – folk performance "Time Dance" performed by the Honored Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir;

– 21.00 – spring games and songs performed by students of the Faculty of Philology of UzhNU (leader – Oksana Tikhovska).

– 21:30 – musical program from jazz ensemble "Pap Jazz Quartet" under the direction of Willi Pap.

– 22.00-23.30 – Special guest of the holiday – Joy Orchestra Vataha.

Throughout the day, you will be able to enjoy delicious Transcarpathian dishes.
