Uzhgorod residents drew attention to the problem of the “Uzhgorod” (PHOTOS)

A street flashmob took place near the entrance to the former cinema "Uzhgorod". Passers-by could read the researches of Oleg Olashyn and Lina Degtyareva about the history of the cinema, which is now going through hard times, and whose future is uncertain – it is threatened, according to the researchers, with either a questionable reconstruction or destruction.  

The cinema was built in 1932 according to the design of the architect Ludovit Oelschleger. It is valuable from different perspectives – architectural, because it is a monument of international level, and urban development, because it shapes the unique look of the street in the center of Uzhgorod, which, according to the experts, is a prime example of modernism.
