Uzhgorod policemen caught a 17-year-old boy from Vynogradiv who had stolen a car from his grandfather

In order to prevent violations of traffic rules regarding stopping and parking of vehicles, Uzhgorod patrol police were working in one of the busiest parts of the city. Around 13:00, the policemen noticed on S. Petofi Sq. a brown Volkswagen Passat similar to a car that was in wanted list. So they decided to verify and checked the license plates of the car. As it turned out, the car had been wanted since the day before. In the morning, on June 14, a resident of Vynogradiv district called the police and reported that unknown persons had illegally seized his car. There was a group of young men by the car. The policemen asked whether they knew who was the owner or the driver of the Passat. During the conversation, they found out that the car was driven by one of the boys. The 17-year-old boy had stolen the car from his grandfather. The investigative group was called at the scene. In addition, the patrol policemen drew out a report against the young man for driving by a person who has no right to operate such vehicle because the boy has not yet reached the age of majority. The car was taken by Vynogradiv investigators. The patrol police reminds that illegal appropriation of a vehicle shall entail liability under the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
