Uzhgorod maternity hospital asks for help: shortage of means of protection and disinfectant solutions

About 3600-3800 childbirths occur in the hospital every year, almost a third of which are by women from other districts of the region.

This was reported by the chief doctor of maternity hospital Oleg Onopko.

According to him, the staff of the Uzhgorod City Maternity Hospital are fully aware of the fact that they will soon have to provide medical care to women with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus, as well as babies born by these women.

"It is easy to predict the complexity of the expected situation, given that about 3600-3800 childbirths occur in the hospital every year, almost a third of which are by women from other districts of the region," – Onopko wrote.

He noted that a number of personnel safety measures had been taken by the hospital administration, in accordance with the recommendations of WHO and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. At the expense of the city budget, they purchased means of personal protection, disinfectant solutions and more. However, the available resources are insufficient and rapidly diminishing.

"We would be grateful for your help in providing our maternity hospital with any equipment, means of personal protection, etc.," – Onnopko asks.
