Uzhgorod is a… Cossack city?

"Cossack festival" with horses and combat hopak will take place in the regional center of Transcarpathia.

The announcement of the event, during which "real Cossacks will march on Korzo", was sent by the "Press Service of the NGO "Transcarpathian Cossacks". The announcement reads as follows

On the Day of the Cossacks, true Cossacks will march on one of the streets of Uzhgorod – Korzo. This kind of event was initiated 8 years ago in Chernihiv, with the aim of spreading to at least one more city annually. This year, it’s Uzhgorod’s turn.

The event will be attended by guests from central Ukraine and Transcarpathians.

"Our guests decided not to transport the horses here, because it would be a stress for the animal, and there were certain disagreements with the Uzhgorod City Council. However, at the last moment, we came to an agreement and got permission to use a small (up to 5) number of horses. Then, our brothers from Lviv agreed to help us and deliver specially trained animals on Friday. By the way, Lviv was the second city that adopted this tradition. The Cossacks themselves will be absolutely authentic: with authentic clothes, haircut, mustaches and fighting skills", – the co-organizer of the event, the head of the NGO "Transcarpathian Cossacks" Fedir Popovich informed.

The event starts on October 14, at 14:00, on Teatralna Square, from where the participants will march to the Uzhgorod castle. On the territory of the museum, there will be demonstrative performances, including the combat hopak.
