Uzhgorod deputies allowed to sell city boiler rooms at auctions and “granted” artists several workshops

The program of privatization of Uzhgorod communal property for 2016-2017, which several times has failed to pass voting at City Council session due to numerous objections, has finally been adopted. However, after a lot of changes.

Thus, they allowed to privatize several boiler rooms – but, responding to comments, only those that will be sold at auctions. Those are facilities on Ukrainska, Hranitna, Odeska, Zahorska, Gulak-Artemovs’kyj streets.

The contentious issue of permission to privatize studios by artists, who have been renting them in Uzhgorod for years, was partly approved. Kovacs and Erfan were not granted their studios, but several other well-known artists, such as Kuzma, Usyk and sculptor Korzh were finally allowed to become owners of the properties.

And the draft privatization program in general (recall that it concerns the redemption of communal property, that is, that which belongs to the community of the city) was adopted only partially and with considerable adjustments.
