Uzhgorod customs officers seized from a Ukrainian an air rifle

Yesterday, at the checkpoint "Maly Berezny", Transcarpathian customs officers seized from a citizen of Ukraine an air rifle.

The citizen was crossing the border, moving from Czech Republic to Ukraine by a car "OPEL VEKTRA" and chose to undergo simplified customs control – the "green corridor".

However, customs inspectors, taking into account the risks, decided to inspect the car and moved it to the "red corridor". Thus, in the baggage compartment of the car, among personal belongings, they found an air rifle made of black metal, labeled "NATSAN" "STRIKER EDGE WYLACZNY DYSTRYBUTOR". The Ukrainian did not conceal the found object and declared it his property. According to him, the cost of the rifle is 50 Euro that according to the NBU exchange rate as of December 24, 2015 is 1,255.19 UAH.

However, in accordance with paragraph 2 of Part 1 of Article 196 od the Customs Code of Ukraine, the transportation of goods across the customs border requires a special permit of other government agencies. At the time of transportation across the customs border of Ukraine, the man had no permits for the rifle. 

Thus, the citizen of Ukraine failed to properly provide accurate and true information about the items that are restricted for transportation across the customs border of Ukraine.

These actions have signs of violation of customs rules under Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Based on Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, the goods being the direct object of violation of customs rules (air rifle) was confiscated.
