Given the appeals from parents of children studying in Uzhgorod schools, according to the order of the Mayor of Uzhgorod Bohdan Andriyiv, the working commission has begun checking schools for compliance with the requirements of catering and trade in cafeterias. In particular, the commission members visited schools number 12, 15, 8, both buildings of the school number 6.
Under the leadership of the Deputy Mayor Oleksandr Bilak, with the participation of representatives of the Legal Department, the Department of Education, the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection of Uzhgorod City Council, the chief of the Department for State Supervision over the Observance of Sanitary Legislation in Uzhgorod Lyudmila Kolomiyets, they inspected the range of products in cafeterias, checked the composition of products for the presence of preservatives, compliance with the requirements of the law on trade.
The range of products is strictly regulated, approved by the Chief Medical Officer of Ukraine. During the inspection, violations of the requirements of sanitary legislation were found in most schools.
– The commission will inspect all establishments where entrepreneurs sell food. I want to emphasize that this inspection is not one-time only, the working commission will be checking schools regularly. Because we cannot be sure that in a month or two the prohibited goods will not be back on the shelves of school cafeterias. Following the inspection, the commission will provide the conclusions, businesses will be required to eliminate the identified deficiencies, otherwise we will recommend to terminate agreements with them. Heads of educational institutions will bear personal responsibility for compliance with health standards in the institution and each month will report to the Department of Education of the City Council," – Oleksandr Bilak said.
