The first session of Uzhgorod city council of the new, seventh convocation has started and now continues without incidents. The hall is full – in addition to the old and new city deputies, the Governor Moskal, the former mayor Pogorelov, deputies of the Regional Council, heads of law enforcement agencies and many clergymen are also present at the meeting.
Of course, there are many representatives of the public and journalists. The session is chaired by the Chairman of Uzhgorod city election commission Yakiv Chornobuk.After the performance of the anthem Ukraine by the Transcarpathian folk choir, the chairman announced the new city council membership.
The names of the deputies are announced, they receive badges and ID cards. The main intrigue is whether there will be a majority in the council, and consequently whether the secretary of the council, deputy mayors, and others will be elected. The deputies take the oath. Then Chornobuk announced Bogdan Andriyiv, who received 20,665 votes, the Mayor of Uzhgorod.
