Today, in Uzhgorod, the children’s narrow-gauge railway resumed the operations. Thus, after the break due to the lack of financing, the children’s narrow-gauge railway, which is one of the highlights of Uzhgorod, has opened the summer season for the third year in a row. This time, the future railwaymen, who practice here, received new railway uniform, which was presented to them by Hennadiy Moskal.
Leaders of the region, the city, Lviv and Uzhgorod directorates of the Ukrzaliznytsya congratulated children and adults on the opening of the season. Traditionally, today’s rides on the train for children and their parents are free.
For reference: The construction of Uzhgorod children’s narrow-gauge railway began in 1945, and it was launched in 1947.
Uzhgorod Children’s Railway is the shortest in Ukraine, the length of its track is 1.2 km. However, for many generations of Uzhgorodians and Transcarpathians, the narrow-gauge railway on the bank of the Uzh has become one of the symbols of the regional center, therefore its reopening became a special event for the entire Transcarpathia.
