The gift was presented to the Center for Pulmonary Diseases in Uzhgorod on Christmas Eve. The modern videobronchoscope by the Japanese company Pentax was acquired through the project Tuberculosis Counteraction in Border Regions, which is being implemented under the Poland-Belarus-Ukraine Cross-border Cooperation Program 2014-2020.
According to Volodymyr Moysiuk, the endoscopist at the Center for Pulmonary Diseases, the new equipment will allow to perform diagnostics of a number of respiratory pathologies at a higher level.
"The state-of-the-art model allows not only to accurately and clearly display the whole picture during the examination, but also to distinguish the intricacies of the bronchi wall structure, to more deeply and accurately examine them in different modes. All examinations are recorded on digital media. In total, 1.5 to 2 thousand bronchoscopies are performed at our Center every year. However, now due to the transformation – as the Center for Pulmonary Diseases, we will be examining both cancer patients and those patients who have inflammatory processes in the bronchi and lungs," – the doctor said. According to doctors, it is the only apparatus of such a high class in our region and its capabilities in the diagnostics of complex cases of diseases or pathological changes in the respiratory organs are extremely wide.
