Uzhgorod carriers face surprises

Uzhgorod city council has already begun to prepare for a new tender for passenger trasportation to be held in autumn. Carriers, who want to work in Uzhgorod, face many innovations.  

Thus, the Deputy Mayor of Uzhgorod Yaroslav Shafar in the comment to the "Uzhgorod" said that the public transport system in the city would to radically reconsidered. Now, at meetings of the the transport commission, they are discussing the possibility of merging and elimination of certain routes. 

"We believe that buses should not stand idle at terminal stops. In particular, this applies to Koryatovich Square, which has turned into one big bus stop. This square should be turned into an ordinary square with one-way traffic towards the "Green" market, and Koryatovich street near the "Atlant" hotel will be turned into a one-way street with the traffic in the opposite direction. This will minimize traffic jam in the center of the city", – Yaroslav Shafar says.

Another innovation on city roads is traffic on all the city roundabouts according to European rules. This means that the car, that moves on the roundabout, has a priority. Such a rule is already in force on Druzhba Narodiv Square and is about to enter into force on
B.Khmelnytsky Square. To prevent confusion, the city must not only set new signs, but also to apply an adequate road markings.
